Hospital Infrastructure Improvement

We helped a large hospital in Poland improve its infrastructure and develop a sustainable strategy for future improvement. 

  • The hospital was facing infrastructure problems resulting from years of neglect due to a lack of government funding. The IT infrastructure was unable to keep up with the rapidly advancing digitization of the medical sector. Together, we determined that, given their challenges and limited resources, it would take several phases of improvement over time to accomplish their goals. So, we created a plan.

  • Budgeting and Funding

    We examined the company's current state and forecasted future growth to determine the requirements for the new server and network infrastructure. We divided the scope and prioritized which infrastructure should be modernized. At the same time, we helped the hospital find additional funding for the project.  

    Network Improvements 

    To begin with, we conducted a full inventory of network equipment, starting with managed server switches and ending with unmanaged switches located in employee rooms. We then prepared a complete plan to replace obsolete equipment with improved equipment designed for scalability. 

    Equipping the Data Center 

    After securing funding from the EU cohesion funds program, the client bought a cluster of high-performance servers linked by VMware’s “High Availability” tool. We migrated the data to a shared storage resource. 

    We created a dedicated infrastructure for the most important hospital system, HIS, with an Oracle database. This process allowed us to create a solid backbone that could be supplemented with other services, raising the level of functionality and security. We selected and integrated an anti-spam system that runs suspicious files and a web application firewall, further preventing network attacks. 

    Server Backups 

    We delivered a backup system based on Veeam software and two DELL DataDomain data deduplicators, which made backup copies resistant to ransomware.

  • The implementation of all these systems, processes, and tools took several years to complete. They would not have been possible without the client's commitment and trust. 

    Working in partnership with our clients creates an environment of transparent cooperation, enabling our project to result in creating one of the most advanced hospital IT infrastructures in the region. The facility has a coherent environment, which translates into ease of management and seamless scalability.

Ongoing Specialist Support for Shared IT Service Provider

We provide a shared IT support provider with expert assistance and operator services so that they can oversee over 100 entities and 5k+ users that directly impact the daily services of their local city and the surrounding area. 

  • The client manages the IT infrastructure in 10 agencies and quickly expanded to accommodate a wider array of IT services for over 100 agencies. However, the agency’s rapid growth outpaced their team’s internal resources. The client needed to increase its infrastructure and manpower to meet the customers' demands.

  • We helped the client scale its IT systems to meet the demands of its future customers. We also helped them predict and anticipate their growth in the next 3-4 years so that they could choose solutions that they would implement today. 

    Given the client’s limited personnel, we helped them choose technology that would be simple for the existing teams to implement and update on their own. Limited personnel also meant that the average day was all hands on deck, leaving very little margin for them to respond to threats in real time. We provide daily support in second-tier call centers, offering domain experts who can speak with engineers when they need a specialist. We also provide threat response that mobilizes at any moment to work to stop attacks and minimize damage. 

    This was especially necessary a few months ago when the city experienced a DDoS attack on their infrastructure. The inside network of the city was paralyzed. Their traffic lights weren’t functioning, communication to the fire brigade was down – it was a disaster and the hackers had control. 

    GreyDot jumped into the car in the middle of the night, provided and configured a DDoS platform in the client’s data center within a few days and repelled the threat. 

  • Our client has the support of GreyDot in two main fronts: immediate threat response and maintenance support. By consolidating IT services, the city’s budget is more cost effective and the city services are able to run without interruption.
